Drive
Posted on 9:56 AM by fjtrfjf
Hi gals - this is me happily driving into the weekend.
It's funny because even though I tend to do design stuff on Saturdays, and the occasional Sunday styling... somehow Friday mornings always feel exhilarating. Here's hoping you have a beautiful (and long!) weekend filled with everything you love!

Calypso Caftan ~ A winner!
Posted on 12:12 PM by fjtrfjf
I can't wait to catch you up on the happenings of last night's event! It was fabulously fun and so great to meet and put faces to some of my lovely reader's names!
Molly was gorgeous and gracious and charming and fun... and happened to fall madly in love with the dress I decided to wear - this Boho Calypso Caftan, (shot here by my dear friend Heidi over at Moda Photography!) I'd say I chose a winner! Stay tuned next week for photos from the event and a surprise giveaway for those of you who couldn't be there.

Molly Ringwald/"Getting the Pretty Back"
Posted on 12:17 PM by fjtrfjf
I'm gearing up to host an event this week for the iconic Molly Ringwald to celebrate her national besteller Getting the Pretty Back!
A woman (and fabulous mommy!) after my own heart who really just gets being uniquely your own in fashion and lifestyle.
I stayed up late last night finishing her book and just ate it up, cover-to-cover. Did you know she had a heavy hand in styling some of her infamous characters such as Andie in Pretty in Pink? She made thrift and vintage cool before it even was cool, scouring vintage as a way of self expression and artistic history, in a time when no one really got it. Get this - while thrifting in her teens, she found a lace sheath dress that previously belonged to Eleanor Roosevelt when she was a debutant! I mean, c'mon! How cool is that?
Molly - we adore you. And for those of us who can actually see past the sixteen year old girl you used to be (fashionable, iconic, and brave as you were...) we're pretty damn inspired by the grown up, wise and still wickedly beautiful woman you've become.
(If you're in the LA area and would like to stop by to meet Molly and be a part of this fabulous event, please RSVP to novembergreyonline{at}gmail{dot}com)

Hair
Posted on 10:34 AM by fjtrfjf
I'm getting kind of bored with my hair. There was a time in my life when I would change it with every mood and whim, just like I do my clothing, playing different parts with different styles and colors every few months to keep things interesting.
My childhood friend who's out visiting even commented that this is the longest she's ever seen me with the same hairstyle. Which would normally mean it's time to hack it off or bleach it blond.
But instead, I'm going the slow and painful route of growing out my bangs. I totally dig the ombre hair that's been seen everywhere lately, but that's just the thing... because it's been everywhere, I kinda don't want to do it, ya know? What are you guys loving with hair these days?

Casual Weekend
Posted on 7:26 AM by fjtrfjf
I had a jam-packed weekend. My long-time bff from childhood flew in for a visit with her little girl, just one week older than mine, (two toddlers running around this house - adorable madness...) styled a boudoir photo shoot for a woman fighting breast cancer who inspired me to tears with her bravery in life and on this shoot, attended a "dance party" birthday party, all while trying to coordinate the most kick-ass event for a style icon of mine, during stolen moments of iPhone planning.
I think that deserves a little T-shirt and jeans action, don't you? Here's my version of super-casual.

Twirl ~ Calypso Cross Back Dress/H&M Sweater Vest
Posted on 9:08 PM by fjtrfjf
I'm loving the femininity of skirts and dresses of spring, aren't you? I confessed my online desire for all the yumminess that Calypso is doing at the moment here, and when I walked outside with my favorite new dress, and a bright sunshiny face to go along with it, I realized the weather was a bit more on the moody side. It's amazing how much wear I've gotten out of this H&M sweater vest. You know how magazines do the "cost per wear" thing? Well, considering I got this baby for $20 bucks... I'm at about... 10 cents per wear? I'm no math whiz, but that makes me happy.
Dress - Calypso
Necklace - via clothing exchange
Shoes - Canvas & Rope ~ Bamboo
Bracelet - Vintage via thrift
Headband - Stretch lace
