Floral jacket/Mixed prints
Posted on 9:01 AM by fjtrfjf
On my way to a lunch meeting, I had an urge for mixed prints and floral (see Baazar 10/10 inspiration), I couldn't resist this fitted floral blazer I've been trying to find a new (post spring) way to wear.
Lucky number 13...
A very good friend...
And a very good idea!
*Side note - directly after this meeting I took her to my favorite thrift store and we did some serious damage. Including a (never worn, tags-still-on) runway bcbg dress for her, rusty pencil skirt (circa Mad Men, so hot, I could just die...) for me, and intricate vintage bangles for both of us! I can't wait to share my finds!Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Enjoy this season to the fullest
Posted on 9:07 AM by fjtrfjf
Life is flying by. I'm so excited about the holidays and this time of year in general... but I can't believe how it all so quickly snuck up on me. This past year, my growing little girl, all of it.
I just want life to be still for one moment, so I can take it all in...
Live vicariously through her eyes...
And actually see the things I often miss, worrying about trivial things.
The wonders and magic and beauty of it all.
Life is good, and gorgeous, and grand. If you let it be.
And I'm going to let it.
Enjoy this season to the fullest, my loves.
Happy Halloween! xx

Beauty Inspiration: Debbie Harry
Posted on 9:09 AM by fjtrfjf
Headed for a night out with one of my favorite fashionista's, we played a little dress up game called "who do you wanna be tonight? (It doesn't suck having girlfriends in the styling/makeup biz...)

Well... Debbie Harry, of course.
Her kick ass style, bleached blonde hair (been there, done that, may do that again...) and soulful eyes (always rimmed to noir perfection!) make her not only a deserved icon, but killer fashion muse as well.

Enter: lots of gold, black, hard edges and attitude.
Did I mention her soulful side?

There'll come a time you need a friend
When disappointment follows you around
and although we scheme in the shallow end
Both mice and men continue to be drowned
So if you're out and get caught in the rain
Just give a smile cast your line out again
When you are down keep on going
Determination will change your luck
And although it's been said before
There is always someone worse off than you
With the milk of human kindness on the floor
Your tears will only turn it a shade of blue

Grey Styling
Posted on 8:00 AM by fjtrfjf
I have about three styling projects going on at the same time, which would seem overwhelming to some, but I just enjoy it so damn much, it rarely feels like work. (Or is it because I always do so with a little bit of champagne?)
One is a complete closet overhaul (that I recently did for myself - see story and tips here!)
The other two are both for destination weddings. Weddings are a different animal completely, because not only are we shopping for the actual BIG DAY, but for the days (or weeks!) of vacation time pre and post wedding. (See an article I did on wedding style shopping here.)
Here's some basic tips and tricks I've come up with to help you along. I hope this brings some inspiration... xx

The complete closet overhaul is something we should all do from time to time. Especially if you're currently opening your closet doors, hating everything in there, LOVE fashion and know how you want to look, but don't know where to start!
Here's some basic tips and tricks I've come up with to help you along. I hope this brings some inspiration... xx

Beauty Trick: Hot Rollers=Hot Hair
Posted on 9:32 AM by fjtrfjf
Another hair trick I've been doing for some time now (nearly every day, honestly!) is hot rollers. They may seem a bit grandma to you, but I've found it's the easiest way to get bouncy and full waves in under 15 minutes flat.
I just don't have the patience to sit there with a curling iron. And if I shower at night, let my hair dry naturally, my morning routine goes a little something like this.
A little shaky-shake...
I'm such a fan of rollers for volume, that I even pop a few in before I'll be wearing my hair straight for the day. Once I take them out, I run a flat iron quickly through and it gives an entirely different effect. Big volume on perfectly glossed straight hair.
Let me know if you try it!

I just don't have the patience to sit there with a curling iron. And if I shower at night, let my hair dry naturally, my morning routine goes a little something like this.
- Heat rollers
- Set rollers
- Get dressed
- Dash of makeup
- Remove rollers and run fingers through hair
- Bit of shine serum, spritz of hairspray, and I'm off!
The biggest tip I can give you about hot rollers is to use very few. And roll big, thick sections of your hair. You don't want little ringlets, you want big volume. Generally I roll about five to six sections, max.
- One high on the head (this gives the most volume on top!)
- Two on each side of your face, rolled forwards.
- One on the back center of your head.
- And the remaining lower pieces split into two.

Some spray...
